What is the difference between Surf Education and Surf Sports?
SURF EDUCATION Is the 7 session program over summer which gives all nippers the opportunity to participate, learn and have fun.
The program focuses on:
- Fun
- Basic First Aid
- Awareness of beach hazards such as rips, waves, rocks etc.
- An introduction to aspects of the surf sport activities such as board paddling, wading, beach flags etc
Each age group has certain skills and activities to learn and in turn each child receives a certificate. We require each nipper to have attended more than 50% of the program to be awarded the relevant certificate. Certificates are given out at the presentation night at the end of the season.
SURF SPORTS Is the competition side of the program where nippers are able to compete in various events at Carnivals run by Lifesaving Victoria throughout the Season. Nippers who are interested in competing in water events must have a current "S" badge sewn onto their bathers for identification at the Carnival.
All Nippers are welcome at our Surf Sport Program.
Does it matter that my child hasn't been at Nippers since under 8s?
No. Each child will be taught what is required for their particular age group. The Surf Education program is open to all children regardless of their previous experience.
