SURF RESCUE CERTIFICATE (src) 

ABOUT

For members at a minimum age of 13 years, the Surf Rescue Certificate course is the introduction course to become a surf lifesaver; patrolling and water safety. It provides you with the skills and knowledge for health and safety around waterways, surf awareness, communication and aquatic rescues activities. The Surf Rescue Certificate course is also the education for the U14 age group, last year of Nippers. Any questions please contact tam@janjucsurfclub.com.au 


SURF RESCUE CERTIFICATE (SRC 1) Please register your interest here Expression of Interest - SRC or BM

The SRC 1 runs over five weeks, from Sunday 29th October to Saturday 2nd December, 2023 and will be eight (8) sessions - three evening sessions and five half day on weekends. Full details of dates and time is available in the Registration Information Pack (TBA).

Sunday 22nd October 9am - 11am: Welcome Session - all participants must attend and parents are welcome to join.

Full details in the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC 1) – Registration Information pack. To secure a place on this course, ALL of the following are required by Sunday 22nd October, 2023. Registrations will close once the 20 available places are filled.

  1. Complete your Membership Application
  2. Submit the online Jan Juc SRC 1 Registration online
  3. Pay the full $110 course fees via your Online Payment Gateway SLSA Members Area account.
  4. Complete the course enrolment LSV Online Course Enrolment.
  5. As Life Saving operations is part of emergency services, it is recommended that you are fully vaccinated

As part of the Surf Rescue Certificate all candidates are required to achieve a prerequisite TIMED swim of 200m in 5 minutes or less, prior to the Surf Rescue Certificate Course. This must be witnessed and signed by a qualified Pool Lifeguard, AUSTSwim Teacher or LSV Assessor.


COURSE MANUAL

Candidates are required to download the online version of the Public Safety & Aquatic Rescue Training Manual 35th Edition using your SLSA Member login - go to Club Gateway. Navigate to Resource Library/Handbooks and guides/member training/PSAR 35 Manual Complete.  

NB: The video links to skill demonstrations will still work once downloaded to your device, however will require Wi-Fi access . This is available if the course is conducted at the Clubhouse. The theory exam is open book and it is highly recommended that the PSAR is available for each candidate.


Create a Members Area account

All attendees will need their own Members Area account.

  1. Find the name, date of birth and either the phone number or email address recorded for the attendee:
    • Log in to the parent's Members Area account
    • Navigate to Memberships > Family
    • Click the ‘View/Edit’ link.
    • Click the 'Edit' link beside the attendee's name
  2. Click here to create a new account for the attendee. 
    • Name, date of birth and either the phone number or email address entered must match those on the attendees Membership Record.
