Cosy Corner) on Torquay Front Beach and has been a major fundraising event for the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club since 1999. The swim is one of the largest open water swim events in Australia and offers a range of distances to suit an array of fitness and age levels. ABOUT THE SWIMSThe Danger 500 swim and the Danger 1000 swim are held in the protected bay area of Torquay Front Beach on a triangular course, with the starts on the clean sandy beach. The 2.5km and 5km swim events start and finish at Torquay Front Beach and swimmers head from Cosy towards a turnaround point at Fisherman’s Beach. Danger 500Perfect for younger and older competitors and a great distance for those who have been training to enter their first ocean swim. The 500 metre open water swim is set on a triangular course from the beach at Torquay Front Beach and return. Depending on the time of day and the tides, the distance can be slightly longer than this. Swimmers should be able to swim at least 750m confidently in the pool to enter this distance. Danger 1000The original distance that is sure to get the heart racing. The 1000 metre open water swim is set on a triangular course from the beach at Torquay Front Beach and return. Depending on the time of day and the tides, the distance can be slightly longer than this. Swimmers should be able to swim at least 1.5km confidently in the pool to enter this distance. More Dangerous 2.5kStepping it up to a long swim for experienced swimmers. The 2.5 kilometre open water swim on a marked course from the beach at Torquay Front Beach and return. Swimmers follow a marked course from Torquay Front Beach towards a turnaround point at Fisherman’s Beach. Depending on the time of day and the tides, the distance can be slightly longer than this. Swimmers should be able to swim at least 3km confidently in the pool to enter this distance. Even More Dangerous 5kA challenge for serious swimmers who have extensive training and ocean swimming experience. The 5 kilometre open water swim on a marked course from the beach at Torquay Front Beach and return. Swimmers follow a marked course from Torquay Front Beach towards a turnaround point at Fisherman’s Beach. Depending on the time of day and the tides, the distance can be slightly longer than this. Swimmers should be able to swim at least 7km confidently in the pool to enter this distance. Danger DashA fun wade event for kids aged 6-12 years. Public entry* on the day only. $30.00 includes t-shirt and cap for first 200 Danger Dash Entries. * Jan Juc Nipper entries close 11:59 PM Thursday before the event and must register using the form provided to Nipper members, otherwise they must enter on the day as Public entries. |
